Karen D. Hickman, 67, of Rock Island, Illinois, died Thursday, May 2, 2013, in her home.
Graveside services are Tuesday, May 7, 2013, at Rock Island National Cemetery. Those wishing to attend should meet at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline, at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gilda?s Club.
Karen was born June 10, 1945, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, to Daniel and Hazel Caskey Hickman. She served in the U. S. Navy during the Vietnam War, and retired from the U. S. Postal Service. She was an avid supporter of gay rights and animal rights, and enjoyed music and playing guitar and trumpet.
Karen is survived by her life partner and best friend, Jeanne Souza, and her many friends at Gilda?s Club.
