Judy was born August 20, 1943, to Walt and Kay Erwin in Moline, IL and spent many hours at the Moline Turner’s Club competing in gymnastics. Judy graduated from Rock Island High School in 1961 where she was a cheerleader. Judy married her high school sweetheart, Randy Lee Walters, who survives her. The two were married for 62 delightful years. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with family, laughter, and countless cherished memories—especially their winters spent together in their home in Alabama.
Judy lived a life filled with grace, strength, and deep devotion to her family. She was a proud wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who touched every life she encountered with warmth and love. She enjoyed spending time with her extended family and friends and brought joy to their lives.
Judy is also survived by her three beloved children: Jay Walters (Kelly d 2018), Thom Walters (Denise), and Holly Walters Popov; her treasured grandchildren: Emily Walters, Kit Walters, Kenzie Brown, Chloe Ballard, Alec Popov, and Ivan Popov; and her adored great-grandson, Payton Hardman.
Professionally, Judy worked with distinction at the Rock Island Arsenal and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. In a remarkable chapter of her life, she traveled twice to Iraq during the country’s rebuilding efforts, a testament to her strength, courage, and commitment to service.
Outside of work, Judy found joy in the simple pleasures—taking up golf after retirement, playing cards with friends and family, and spending precious time with her family. She was known for her kindness, her quick wit, and her unwavering support for those she loved. Her presence lit up every room, and her absence will be deeply felt. A special event in Judy’s life was when she recorded a “Hole-in-One” before her husband.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents and daughter, Walt and Kay Erwin and Lisa Walters, who no doubt welcomed her with open arms.
She was deeply loved and will be forever missed.
