Joseph E. Fosdyck

Joseph Edward Fosdyck, 98, of Silvis, Illinois, left his earthly body behind on March 17, 2015, at home.

Services are 10 a.m. Monday in the Horizon Room at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline. Burial will follow the funeral at Oakwood Cemetery in Macomb, Illinois. Visitation is 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday in CityView Celebrations on the lower level of Trimble Pointe.

Joe was born July 16, 1916, in Macomb, Illinois to Clarence Dale and Laura Hazel Burr Fosdyck. He married Gladys Bernadine Whitaker on October 19, 1940, in Keokuk, Iowa. She passed away on December 17, 1972. He later wed Peggy Scott Brasmer on July 3, 1974 in Moline.

As a young man Joe followed various occupations in the Macomb area as a farm hand, truck driver, and carpenter. He always enjoyed sharing tales of his adventures with family and friends.
He moved to the Quad Cities in 1943 to work for American Machine and Metals, which later became Ametek. He retired in 1978 when the company closed its East Moline plant. He enjoyed his retirement years fishing, traveling, woodworking, and completing various remodeling projects.

As a young man he played the mandolin and banjo on the radio with his father and brothers. He was a good cook, and enjoyed cooking for his family. He was a staunch Cubs fan and never missed listening to a game. Birthday parties and family celebrations were an important part of his life.

Joe is survived by wife Peggy; daughter, Patricia Joanne Crosby and her husband Bing; son, Joseph Michael Fosdyck, both of Moline; step-daughter Lynn Brasmer Stockley and her husband Steve of Tulsa, Oklahoma; seven grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers and a sister.
