Joseph Allen Montjoy

Joseph Allen "Super Soul" Montjoy, Jr., 64, of East Moline, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, May 3, 2018, at his home.

Visitation is 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Saturday in the Horizon Room at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline. Services are 2:00 p.m., with The Reverend Frank Livingston officiating. Following services, a repass will be held at Mount Sinai Christian Fellowship in Davenport, Iowa. Burial will take place at New Hope Cemetery in Tuckerman, Arkansas. Memorials may be made to the family.

Allen was born June 7, 1953, in St. Louis, Missouri, the son of Joseph Sr. and Blanche (Wills) Montjoy. He married Glenda Jones on August 25, 1975, in Rock Island, with whom he had two children.

He worked in miscellaneous jobs including as a DJ with a radio station in Davenport, IA. Allen was known as "Soul Man", as a DJ. Allen (aka Big Al or Al) and later became CEO of Get Tape and Record Shop. He loved photography and enjoyed working in the music industry as well as watching sports. He was especially fond of basketball. He was a people person loved by all that he came in contact with. Above all else, family was the most important thing to Allen, especially his grandchildren. His kind spirit will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Allen is survived by his children, Joseph A. Montjoy III, and LaCrecia Montjoy, both of Moline; grandchildren, Angelica, Brianna, Kya, Joseph IV, Brandon, Connor, Xavier, Arius, Yasmine, Briana, Jordan, Johnny, and Symphonique; three great grandchildren, Armani +2; his sister, Patricia Burgess of Moline; a niece, Hope Burgess; and his longtime companion, Mary Hendrix of East Moline. He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph Allen Monjtoy Sr. and Blanche (Wills) Monjtoy.
