Jose Abundez Trinidad and Irinea Santos

Joy, Illinois

With hearts heavier than words can express, our family mourns the loss of our beloved Papi and Mami, Jose Abundez Trinidad and Irinea Santos, who left this life only days apart after 50 years of marriage, love, and family.

Jose Abundez Trinidad, son of Villalba Trinidad Lucas and Pablo Abundio Santiago, was born on December 12, 1954, and passed into peaceful eternity on August 11, 2026.

Irinea Santos Jimenez, daughter of Brissia Jiménez de Jesús and Carmelo Santos, lovingly known as Mami, was born on June 28, 1960, and passed into peaceful eternity on August 13, 2026.

For 50 years, Papi and Mami built a life together. They raised seven children, mourned two who went before them, and built a family that now includes 17 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. They are now reunited with the children they carried in their hearts.

Papi was a true family man—hardworking, humble, kind, and strong. He lived with deep faith and quiet wisdom, always focused on providing for and protecting those he loved. His home was always open, his table always full, and his cup of coffee always ready to share. He had a gift for storytelling, and some of our most treasured memories are simply sitting with him, listening to his voice, his laughter, and feeling completely safe in his presence. Being near Papi felt like being home.

Mami was the heart of the family—nurturing, playful, and full of love. She had a joyful spirit, always teasing her children and grandchildren just to make them laugh, and somehow always knowing exactly what each of us needed. She expressed her love through care and food, making sure no one ever left her home hungry, or without feeling deeply loved. Her home was a place of warmth, laughter, and belonging, where you were always welcomed.

Together, Papi and Mami shared everything. They gardened, fished, worked on home projects, and enjoyed life’s simple moments side by side. Wherever they went, they went together—hand in hand, heart in heart—showing us what true partnership and love look like.

They leave behind their children Jose Abundez, Miguel Abundio, Blanca Abundis, Daisy Abundez, and Vanessa Abundez, their 17 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren, and many family members and friends whose lives they touched deeply.

Papi is also survived by his sisters, Enedina and Juana Abundez, and Mami by her 5 siblings, who will also carry their memory.

There are no words for the pain of losing them both so close together. We are learning, moment by moment, how to live in a world without their voices, their laughter, their stories, and the comfort of simply knowing they were there—always together, always steady, always home.

But what they built together remains.

It lives in their children, their grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. It lives in every shared meal, every story retold, every garden planted, every fishing trip remembered, every cup of coffee poured with love, and every gathering where their presence is still so deeply felt.

They taught us that a rich life is measured not by what you have, but by how deeply you love, how gently you treat others, and how faithfully you show up for your family.

After 50 beautiful years together, it brings us comfort to imagine Papi and Mami reunited—together again, embraced in peace, surrounded by love, and resting in the presence of God, reunited with the children who went before them.

We will miss them more than words can ever hold. Papi’s voice, his stories, and his steady strength. Mami’s laughter, her warmth, her teasing, and her endless care. Most of all, we will miss the feeling of being loved so completely, so unconditionally, and so fully by them both.

Their table may feel different now, but the love they built there will continue to nourish our family for generations to come. We love you, Papi and Mami. Always.

____________________________________________________________

Siempre.
