John T. Martzahn

John T. Martzahn, 76, of Davenport, Iowa, passed Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at his residence.

Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, Moline, Illinois, under the direction of Cremation Society of the Quad Cities. Memorials may be made to the family for a fund to be established.

John Thomas Martzahn was born May 15, 1949, in Davenport, Iowa, the son of Henry and Joyce (Foley) Martzahn. He married Helen Lanigan on June 2, 1969, in Bettendorf, Iowa, and together they shared 56 wonderful years of marriage.

He spent his life working as a mechanic, including at Twin Bridges, River City Ford, and with the Pleasant Valley School District buses. He took great pride in his work and was always willing to lend a hand. In his free time, he enjoyed tackling unique projects, including creating digital 3D graphics and exploring photography. He was truly a simple man.

John is survived by his beloved wife, Helen Martzahn; daughter, Sharon Martzahn; grandchild, Evan Marzahn; and siblings, Carolyn Cunningham and James Connell. He was preceded in death by his son, John Mathew; parents, Henry and Joyce Martzahn; and brother, Michael Martzahn.
