John L. Marberry, 73, of Silvis, Illinois, died Saturday, September 13, 2025, at home surrounded by his family.
A hospitality gathering with Harris Pizza and drinks will be 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Friday, September 19, at CityView Celebrations at Trimble Pointe (lower level), 701 12th Street, Moline. Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, Moline, under the direction of Cremation Society of the Quad Cities. Memorials may be made to Connie Marberry.
John Lee Marberry was born August 25, 1952, in Davenport, Iowa, the son of James Edger and Mary Helen (Boley) Marberry. He proudly served in the U.S. Army, spending one year in Vietnam. He married the love of his life, Connie Kratzer, on April 7, 1970, in Davenport.
John worked for Frizzelle & Parsons Die Sinking for many years before retiring. He enjoyed reading and drawing. He also loved watching movies on television, but being a cowboy at heart, John Wayne and other westerns often occupied his television. He was an avid Chicago Cubs and Iowa Hawkeyes fan. Above all else, family was the most important thing to John, especially his beloved grandchildren.
John is survived by his loving wife of over 55-years, Connie Marberry; his three sons who inherited his humor (and, unfortunately, his stubborn streak), John (Jennifer) Marberry of Hampton, Illinois, Jeremy (Penelope) Marberry of East Moline, Illinois, and Jason (Geri) Marberry of Cambridge, Illinois; seven grandchildren, Jessica (Sam) Hoeg, Jaylee (Jeremiah) Mahr, Jacob Marberry, Phenton Marberry, James Hull, Isabell (Harold) Anderson, and Isabella Hull; three great-grandchildren, Theo and Lucas Mahr, and Dean Anderson; and his siblings, Ellen Fields and Bill (Diane) Marberry. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Kenneth and James Marberry.
