John B. Conner

November 26, 1950 — August 9, 2017

John B. Conner, 66, of Rock Island, Illinois, died Wednesday, August 9, 2017, at home.

A gathering to celebrate John's life will be 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Sunday at his home, 1900 12th Street, Rock Island. Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, Moline, under the direction of Trimble Funeral Home. Burial will be in Luana Cemetery in Luana, Iowa, at a later date.

John was born November 26, 1950, in Arlington, Iowa, the son of Leslie and Berdina (Noggle) Conner. He married Deian Lenth on February 8, 1969.

He worked at Caterpillar as a welder for several years before moving to California, where he worked for the City of Santa Monica. He and Deian moved back to Rock Island in 1999, and worked at K&K True Value in Bettendorf. He retired around 2014, but maintained close friendships with those he worked with.

John enjoyed golfing, and was a jack of all trades who could fix anything. He loved to make people laugh and smile, especially by dressing up as a leprechaun and participating in the St. Patrick's Day Parade and handing out gold coins to children.

He is survived by his beloved wife of over 48 years, Deian; a son and daughter-in-law, Chad and Antsisé of Simi Valley, California; a daughter, Kelly Bolinger of Moline; two grandsons, Christian Conner and Noah Bolinger; a brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Jeannie Conner of Hawkeye, Iowa; and his friends at the Wooden Nickel in Davenport. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Allen Conner.
