Joann Carla Sangster Dominguez

Joann Carla Sangster Dominguez, 62, of Davenport, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at home with her loving family by her side.

Visitation is 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Thursday, December 18, in the Horizon Room at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline. Private burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Moline. Memorials may be made to the family for a fund to be established in Joann’s memory.

The former Joann Carla Sangster was born October 20, 1963, in East Moline, Illinois, the daughter of Edward Carlos and Joyce (Shimkus) Sangster. She graduated from United Township High School and went on to live a life devoted to her family.

Joann was a devoted mother and homemaker. She always put her children first and made sure they were fed and had everything they needed. Her famous chili will always be remembered but never duplicated.

She enjoyed coloring, word searches, puzzles, and other arts and crafts. She also loved listening to music of all kinds, ranging from Snoop Dogg to gospel music. She had a passion for the outdoors, always having a well manicured yard. Above all else, family was the center of Joann’s life, especially her pride and joy, her grandchildren.

Joann is survived by five children, Jorge (Audreanna) Dominguez of Davenport, Sandra Davis of Marion, Iowa, Josue (Elizabeth) Dominguez of Rock Island, Adrian (Brittany) Dominguez of Winfield, Indiana, and Rebecca Dominguez of Davenport; 12 grandchildren, Isaac, Israel, Ariah, and Grace Dominguez, Kingston and Acey Davis, Amaeyah, Jahliyah, Colettah, and Camilah Dominguez, and Lilliana and Jakkeme Michaels; siblings, Deborah Whitley, Osbee Sangster, Clancy Davis, Barbara Jones, and Joyce Lomax; step-siblings, Lynwood and Prissy; and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother, Joyce Benson, and her father, Edward Sangster.
