Jimmie L. Rogers, 93, of Bettendorf, Iowa, died Tuesday, October 31, 2023, at home.
Graveside services are 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 3, at Rock Island National Cemetery, where the Moline American Legion Post #246 will present military honors. Those wishing to attend are invited to meet in the parking lot at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Molne, at 1:45 p.m.
Jimmie Lee Rogers was born June 11, 1930, in Helena, Arkansas, the son of William and Jessie (Shenep) Rogers. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps for three years and retired from Alcoa.
He attended West Side Assembly of God Church, Davenport. He was a gifted pilot in his younger years. He enjoyed fixing up cars, especially Volkswagens. He also was a history buff and enjoyed sports of all kinds.
Jimmie is survived by his son, Jimmie “Shawn” Rogers of Bettendorf; his sister, Mary Tanner of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; and two nieces, Rosie and Barb, of Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Scott Rogers; and his brother, William “Bill” Rogers.
