Jesse F. Schaich, 66, of Colona, Illinois, passed away Thursday, October 8, 2026, at University of Iowa Health Care, Iowa City.

A gathering to celebrate Jesse’s life will be announced at a later date. Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, Moline, Illinois, under the direction of Cremation Society of the Quad Cities. Memorials may be made to the family.

Jesse Frank Schaich was born February 22, 1960, in Abilene, Kansas, the son of Pete and Charlotte (Buffett) Schaich. In 1987, he married the love of his life, Deborah Lear, in Davenport. Together, they shared nearly 40 years of marriage filled with love and memories.

Jesse spent most of his career working for Smith Filter. Outside of work, he enjoyed fishing and spending time in his yard, whether mowing the lawn or tending to his garden. But more than anything, Jesse cherished his family. His greatest happiness came from being with his beloved wife, children, and grandchildren, who meant the world to him.

Jesse is survived by his wife, Deb; his children, Debbie Jo Melton of Geneseo, and Sam Melton of Moline; his step-daughter, Jodie Beard of Moline; and grandchildren, Naomi Melton, Shyla Beard, Shaylenn Beard, and Devin Melton.
