Jerry Lee Bambauer was born August 18, 1949, in Port Byron, Illinois, the son of Myron Vincent and Norma Eleanora (Ziegler) Bambauer. He graduated from Moline High School and proudly served in the U.S. Army. During his 13-month tour in Vietnam, Jerry earned several commendations, including the prestigious Vietnam Cross of Gallantry.
Jerry married Jo Blackman, and together they had three sons. Though the couple later separated, their family remained the cornerstone of Jerry’s life. Following his military service, Jerry worked at Farmall until 1984, then spent over 30 years as a semi-truck driver. He was a dedicated member of the NRA and enjoyed fishing, motorcycles, and watching comedy and action films. But above all, he cherished time spent with his family, especially his beloved grandchildren.
Jerry is survived by three sons and a daughter-in-law, Shannon and Jill Bambauer of Silvis, Illinois, Dan Bambauer of Coal Valley, and Nick Bambauer of Coal Valley; six grandchildren, Kate and Connor Bambauer, Hailie and Hunter (Elaina) Bambauer, and Kiah and Logan Bambauer; and his brother-in-law, Martin Sievers. He was preceded in death by his mother and step-father, Norma and Byron Schlofeldt; his father, Myron Bambauer; and his sister, Sharon Sievers.
