Jan S. Sheehan, 71, of Rock Island, Illinois, passed away Friday, December 5, 2025, at home with her loving family by her side.
Visitation is 3:30 to 6:00 p.m. Friday, December 12, in the Horizon Room at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline. Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, Moline, with memorial services 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 13, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Moline Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Quad City Animal Welfare Center, Milan.
Janis Sue Jackman was born May 8, 1954, in Peoria, Illinois, the daughter of George and Charla (Winterer) Jackman. She graduated from Peoria Richwoods High School and went on to earn her bachelor’s degree from Washington University in St. Louis. She married Jack Meyer in 1978 and from their marriage came three children, John, Allie, and Julie, prior to separating.
She married Joseph Sheehan on September 29, 2001, in Moline, and the couple shared over 24 years of love, laughter, and memorable trips to Ireland. Her career was dedicated to teaching hearing impaired children and helping find employment for those with learning disabilities. She dedicated more than 15 years at Mississippi Bend Area Education Agency.
Jan was active in Junior Service League and King’s Daughters in her younger years. Her passions were her family and anything to do with Ireland. She also enjoyed nature, especially going for walks, gardening, watching the sunset, flowers and birds. She loved reading and animals of all kinds, having had many special dogs over the years. Above all else, family was the most important thing to Jan, and her grandchildren were her pride and joy.
Jan will be missed by all that knew her and will be remembered for her warmth, wit, and humor.
She is survived by her husband, Joe; three children and their spouses, John and Danielle Meyer of Redmond, Washington, Allie and Eric Pratt of Andover, Illinois, and Julie and John Super of Andover, Massachusetts; six grandchildren, Genevieve and Weston Meyer, Owen and Conner Pratt, and James and Claire Super; three step-children, Kenneth Sheehan of Ireland, David Sheehan of Scotland, and Mark (Lavina) Sheehan of Ireland; four step-grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law, Douglas and Pam Jackman of Muscatine, Iowa, James Jackman of Pekin, Illinois, and Nancy Jackman of Birmingham, Alabama; several nieces and nephews; as well as Joe’s family in Ireland. She was preceded in death by her parents; her granddaughter, Giselle Meyer; her grandson, Brooks Pratt; brother, Stephen Jackman; and sister-in-law, Diane Jackman.
