James J. Wakeland, Jr.

James J. Wakeland, Jr., 56, of Coal Valley, Illinois, died Wednesday, March 29, 2023, at home.

Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, Moline, under the direction of Trimble Funeral Home, Coal Valley.  Memorials may be made to the family.  

James Jewell Wakeland was born October 7, 1966, in Galesburg, Illinois, the son of James J. Sr. and Madeline Jewell (Miller) Wakeland.  He served in the U.S. Army.

He was an avid Chicago Bears fan.  He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family.   

Jim is survived by his life partner of over 32-years, Rebecca Hathaway; his father, James J. Wakeland, Sr.; and siblings, Jeff (Debbie) Wakeland of Keithsburg, Illinois, Jena Mettler of Burlington, Iowa, Jerrold (Angela) Wakeland of Little York, Illinois, and John Wakeland of Mobile, Alabama.  He was preceded in death by his mother, Madeline “Julie” McGee.
