James H. Craig

August 10, 1939 — June 16, 2025

Bettendorf, Iowa

James H Craig , age 85, went to God to join his siblings on June 16, 2025, in Bettendorf, Iowa. The family would like to thank the entire community at Clarissa C Cook Hospice House for their extreme generosity and kindness day and night.

James (Jim & Jimmy) was born on the kitchen table in the "farmhouse" in Georgetown, Iowa, in 1939. Jimmy Craig graduated from St. Patrick's Catholic School in Georgetown, Iowa as his class president. He has numerous farm stories from no modern sewer to no modern electricity until mid-way thru as a kid. One of the best stories his kids have enjoyed, was on highway 34 in Iowa, they were brining electricity along the "main" highway and every farm had the option to pay a one-time fee for the pole on their side. Jimmy told the story that "mom" wanted it for basic farms operations, but "dad" didn't want to pay the $100 or $200. The next year they paid a little more and had the line with power now on the Craig family farm. Jimmy Craig continued to work on the family farm into his 20's. He then went to Indian Hills Community College to obtain a degree. The family would like to thank ALL of the great family and friends in and from Georgetown, Iowa, there is NO PLACE like it. Georgetown, you are as genuine and as good as the World gets, thank you for all the memories we are able to have! If you have never been to God's Portion Day, go to it!

Jim Craig , after graduating community college, would then make a big move, to the big town of the Quad Cities or Davenport, Iowa, at the time. It was here thru mutual friends; Jim met a lovely lady named Cathy Koehne that he would end up falling in love with and marrying. They would end up having Tamara Craig (daughter) and Jimmy Craig (son). Jim became a property owner with rentals of houses and townhouses for 20+ years. Jim Craig ended up working over 30+ years for Advanced Drainage Systems (ADS) and covering a large territory in N. Central Illinois. He was able to gain a lot of loyal customers, but more importantly lifelong family friends that are still intact with generations today. We want to thank each of you, for becoming such great friends. Jim (dad) did instill in us, that family does come first, but you also have to work hard to be able to enjoy life. Jim Craig became a proud lifelong member of the St. Patrick's Society in the Quad Cities. He also proudly joined the Knights of Columbus when he was 18 and achieved the 4th degree Knight. He was also a proud member of the Catholic Church, at passing belonged to Lourdes Catholic Church in Bettendorf.

James is survived by his wife of 51 years, Catherine; two children Tamara (Justin) Norris of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Jimmy (Amy) Craig of Bettendorf, Iowa. Also, five amazing grandchildren, Bryant, Payton, Milo, Josie, and Seamus. Also, his sisters-in-law Doris Craig of Ankeny, Iowa, and Margie Craig of Newton, Iowa.

James is preceded in death by his parents Leo and Anna (Comer) Craig, brothers John, Leo, and Joseph: sisters: Mary Adams and Cecilia Anne Kosman and his oldest sibling, James that was lost as an infant.
