Irma M. Cook, 72, of Davenport, Iowa, passed away peacefully Monday, September 7, 2026, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, surrounded by her loving family.

Services will be held Saturday, September 12, in the Horizon Room at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m., with Rev. Daniel Thornburg officiating. Following the service, the family will continue to greet friends during a funeral luncheon at CityView Celebrations at Trimble Pointe. Burial will take place Monday, September 14, and timing will be announced in the near future.  Memorials may be made to Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House.

Irma Marie Smith was born April 12, 1954, in Iowa City, Iowa, and was the daughter of Edward and Jackie (Bauswell) Neese. On June 2, 1972, she married the love of her life, Randy Cook, in Davenport. Together, they shared more than 52 years of marriage, raising three daughters and filling their lives with countless memories, family adventures, and plenty of casino trips. They especially enjoyed traveling to Biloxi, Branson, and, of course, Las Vegas.

She was proud to be a homemaker while raising her daughters. Once they were older, she began her career as a field operations assistant and editor for “Factual Photo.” She later worked at APAC before retiring in 2013 due to health reasons.

Irma had a soft spot for old westerns and the television shows she grew up with, including The Andy Griffith Show and Gunsmoke. She was a devoted fan of Grit TV, too. Her family often teased her about spending money on a color television when she seemed determined to watch everything in black and white anyway.

But more than anything, Irma loved her family. Being a wife, mother, and grandmother was at the heart of who she was. She looked forward to every family get-together, and she especially enjoyed porch parties with her sisters, where there was never a shortage of stories, laughter, and good company. She was immensely proud of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was always there to cheer them on and support them in whatever they pursued.

Irma is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Gina and Ron VanDeWalle of Le Claire, Iowa, and Angie and Ron Crino of Blue Grass, Iowa; son-in-law, Todd Eagen of Davenport; grandchildren, Zachary (Keirstyn) McPhee, Randy (Rayna) McPhee, Cory (Ashley) VanDeWalle, Treavor (Bailey) VanDeWalle, Karla Eagen, Kyler (Vivian) Eagen, and Rylan Crino; step-grandchldren, Savanna Goertzen, Jill Bratcher, Charles McPhee, Steven McPhee, and Markcus Adams; many great-great-grandchildren; her siblings, Mary (Roy) Robinson of Davenport, Carl Gibson of Davenport, Bob (Patt) Neese of Blue Grass, Iowa, Cindy (Allen) Trivette of Davenport, Patty Neese of Davenport, Eddie (Kathy) Neese of Show Low, Arizona, Ted (Linda) Neese of Davenport, Janie (Keith) Haislip of Davenport, and Lois (Wayne) Talbert of Rock Island; her uncle, Hank Hawkins of Davenport, special friend, Rita Price of Davenport; and many nieces, nephews, in-laws, extended family, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Randy; her daughter, Melissa Cook; great-granddaughter, Eliza VanDeWalle.
