Howard D. Lewis

Howard “Louie” D. Lewis, 83, of Milan, Illinois, passed Monday, May 11, 2026, at his home surrounded by family.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Friday, May 15, in the Horizon Room at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline. Cremation will take place following visitation at Trimble Crematory, Moline, Illinois. Memorials may be made to the family for a fund to be established.

Howard Darrel Lewis was born on October 13, 1942, in Des Moines, Iowa, the son of Virgil and Dorotha (Danner) Lewis. He proudly served in the United States Army and was stationed in South Korea. After returning home, he dedicated more than 30 years as a lift truck driver for Nesbitt and Pepsi in Davenport. He retired in 1999. He married Deborah “Debbie” Risinger on December 2, 1978, in Rock Island, Illinois, and together they shared 47 years of marriage.

He was a simple man with a determined and stubborn spirit. He loved proving others wrong and enjoyed figuring out solutions to just about anything. He could often be found taking things apart just to fix them and put them back together again. He also enjoyed working on cars, riding his Kawasaki motorcycle, and relaxing while watching television.

Louie is survived by his beloved wife, Debbie Lewis of Milan, Illinois; daughters, SanDee Lewis of Texas, Paula (Earl) Roberts of Davenport, Iowa, and Heather (Nick) Masengarb of Moline, Illinois; grandchildren, Jessica, Robert, Travis, Alison, Joseph, and AJ; one great-grandchild; and a brother, Paul Lewis. He was preceded in death by an infant son; granddaughter, Breanna McFadden; and his parents.
