Howard L. Compton, 75, of Davenport, Iowa, died Tuesday, July 19, 2022, at ProMedica Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation, Davenport.
A private family celebration of Howard’s life will be held. Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, Moline, Illinois, under the direction of Cremation Society of the Quad Cities.
Howard Leeland Compton was born October 11, 1946, in Indiana, the son of Herman “Lefty” and Lorraine Compton. He served in the U.S. Navy as a Corpsman during the Vietnam War, earning a Purple Heart among other honors.
He was a jack of all trades who had many different careers over the years, including computer science teacher at Santa Monica College in California, DJ, doing voiceovers for several airlines, and owning a food truck, grocery store, lingerie shop, and photo studio.
He loved life and wasn’t afraid to go off and try new ventures. He loved being with family, cooking, and having a good time.
Howard is survived by two sons, William (Jennifer) Compton of Moscow, Iowa, and Mike (Fawne Perkins) Compton of Davenport; several beloved grandchildren; a brother, Bill Compton; and his ex-wife, Linda White. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Andy.
