Bettendorf, Iowa

Henry (Hank) A. Hildebrant, age 84, died peacefully at home, after an extended illness, in Bettendorf, Iowa on Tuesday, December 5, 2023, surrounded by his family and friends.

Henry was born July 21, 1939, in Wynette, Illinois to Clarence and Charity (Garman) Hildebrant, one of 14 children.

Henry is survived by his children, Michel (Kenneth) Hunter, Lora (Carl) Norris, Henry (Teresa) Hildebrant, Jill (Michael) Stechmann, Christina (Michael) Bell, and Kimberly (Dereck) Hatcher; 12 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; siblings, Harry and Gene of Davenport, Judy Sumpter of Aledo, Peggy Herauf of Oklahoma, and Keith of Texas; and companion, Sandy Cosier.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Sharon; parents; and siblings, Larry, Wayne, Mary Lou, Gerald, Timothy, Diana (Toots), Randy and David; and his furry friend (dog), Niah.

Henry shared an unbreakable bond with his devoted companion Sandy Cosier. For many years they embarked on countless trips and offered each other unwavering support.

The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to Trinity Hospital doctor and nursing staff for their compassion, care of, and concern for Henry.

Throughout his career Mr. Hildebrant was involved in the building of many structures in the Quad City area including two bridges. He was a member of the carpenters union, local 4, and had 29 years of service working for Adams Door Company.

His greatest passion was fishing and volunteering at Camp Summit in New Windsor, Il. where he met good friend Don Smith. He had some mean poker games with his brothers at family gatherings and he enjoyed playing many different cards games, just recently having started playing Farkel with his brother Harry.

Visitation from 10:00 to 11:00 and Services at 11:15 on Friday, December 8, 2023, at Journey Church, 1010 13th Ave N, Clinton, Iowa, where Henry was a faithful attendee. Henry’s ashes will be laid to rest at Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Camp Summit, Unity Point Hospice, or your favorite charity.
