Helen Ann Barnett was born April 26, 1965, in Rock Island, Illinois, the daughter of Dale and Janet (Crecelius) Barnett. She married the love of her life, Christopher Waffle, on November 4, 1990. After courageously facing dementia and other health challenges, the loss of Chris on April 30, 2026, proved more than Helen’s heart could bear, and her family believes she passed from a broken heart.
Helen dedicated more than 26 years of service to Burke Cleaners. She found joy in reading, attending concerts, and traveling, especially when it meant spending time at the beach. Above all, Helen cherished her family. Her greatest happiness came from time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought endless pride and love to her life.
Helen is survived by her daughters and son-in-law, Heather and Blake Terrance of Coal Valley, Illinois, and Ashley Waffle of Moline; three grandchildren, Harlow Terrance, Haley (RaeQuan) Waffle, and Kaden Waffle-Weeks; great-grandchildren, Kaizen and Amoura Miller; siblings, Dale Barnett of Rock Island, Donna (Mike) Barenthin of Moline, Barb Allen of Milan, and Scott Barnett of Moline; many nieces and nephews; a special friend, Mariah Huston; her dog, Charlie; and her best friend, her cat, Emma. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Chris Waffle; her son, Matthew Waffle; sister, Diane Bohannon; and brother-in-law, Randy Allen.
