Helen R. Gonzalez, 75, of East Moline, Illinois, passed on Monday, February 9, 2026, at Celebrate Senior Living of Moline.

Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, Moline, Illinois, under the direction of Cremation Society of the Quad Cities. Memorials can be made to the family for a fund to be established.

Helen Rosario Gonzalez was born on October 2, 1950, in New York, New York, the daughter of Gerardo "Kid Gavilan" Gonzalez and Lenor Fajardo. She married Wayne Gutierrez in 1978 in Riverside, California. Their lives together marked an intense and unforgettable journey of 20 years before his passing in January of 2008.

Helen worked as a seamstress throughout her life, learning the craft at a young age from her mother. She later owned and operated Bandana Creations by Elena for many years, a reflection of both her creativity and dedication.

She had a deep appreciation for all forms of fantasy, including books, films, and games. She was an avid movie enthusiast and was known for having watched virtually every film one could imagine. She also enjoyed playing Dungeons & Dragons and Rummikub, and spending time at the piano.

Helen is survived by her beloved children, David and his wife Davina Gutierrez and Ariana Gutierrez; grandchildren, Daviana, David Jr., Abriceana, Daishana, and Dominic Gutierrez; great-grandchildren, Jaleel, Noaah, Damon, Daliyah, Skye, Hope, Daia, and Daniella; siblings, Gerardo Gonzalez Jr. and Demitris "India Gavilan" Gonzalez; niece, Gianna Easley; and her god-grandchild, Gevona Oestereich. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gerardo "Kid Gavilan" Gonzalez and Lenor Fajardo.
