Hazel D. Stuart

Hazel D. Stuart, 94, of Moline, Illinois, died Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at UnityPoint Health – Trinity Rock Island.

A hospitality gathering to celebrate Hazel’s life will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Saturday, May 10, 2025, at CityView Celebrations at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline. Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 10, at Moline Memorial Park.

The former Hazel Dell Massey was born October 14, 1930, in Bluefield, West Virginia, the daughter of Ernest Blaine and Ella Bertha (Forhman) Massey. She married William Stuart in 1976, in Moline. He died December 20, 2002. 

Hazel worked at Southeast National Bank for 24 years before spending 9 years at J.C. Penney. She enjoyed shopping and was an avid bowler in her younger years. She also loved music, especially Yanni and Neil Diamond. She was also a fan of The Lettermen, often traveling to their concerts all around the country. Above all else, family was the most important thing to Hazel, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by two children, David (Paula) Pratt, and Lori Hayden, of Moline; six step-children, Duane (Sharon) Stuart, Cyndy (Marvin) Simmons, Don (Linda) Stuart, Doug Stuart, Scott (Debbie) Stuart, and Lori Lynn (Tim) Smith; and many beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bill; her granddaughter, Morgan Pratt; sister, Linda Kane; and ½ brother, George Dawson.
