Hazel Hargrove

Hazel Hargrove, 93, of Coralville, Iowa, formerly of Iowa City, died Wednesday, May 1, 2024, at Windmill Manor, Coralville.

Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, Moline, under the direction of Trimble Funeral Home.  Private burial is at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline.

Hazel Elizabeth Linnison Hargrove was born October 26, 1930, in Porto Alegre, Rio Grande Do Sul, Brazil, the daughter of James Carroll and Kate Chandler (McMahon) Hargrove.  

She was a teacher, entrepreneur, writer, social worker and editor.  She also enjoyed taking part in motorsports racing in her younger years.

Hazel is survived by her nieces and nephews, Meg (Larry) Steele of East Moline, Sue (Paul) Thomas of Moline, Brett (Sue) Owen of Moline; Jane (Mark) Hebson of Torrance, California, Anne (Michael) Musgrave of Santa Rosa, California, Jim (Norma) Iverson of Torrance, and Jack (Patty) Iverson of Santa Rosa; and many great-nieces and great-nephews and their families.  She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Katherine Owen and Jean Iverson; and a brother at birth.
