H. Joan Tisinger

A celebration of life for H. Joan Tisinger, 102, of Bettendorf, Iowa, will be held Tuesday, August 25, at 11 a.m. at St. John’s United Methodist Church, 109 E. 14th St., Davenport. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of service. For those unable to attend the service in person, it will be livestreamed at https://www.youtube.com/live/9XWD4emosuE

Per her wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. Private inurnment will be at Memorial Park in Davenport.

Joan died Saturday, August 15, at her home in Bettendorf. She was born in 1924 in Assumption, Illinois, the daughter of Glenn and Lois (Homrighous) Lovering. She married Wayne Tisinger in Assumption, Illinois, in 1954. He died in 2011.

Before becoming a mother and homemaker, Joan worked as an executive secretary with various companies in Decatur, Illinois, and Davenport. An active member of St. John’s United Methodist Church, she served on various committees and volunteered extensively throughout her 72 years of membership.

Joan is survived by: daughter, Karen Tisinger, Clive, Iowa; son, Mark (Patti) Tisinger, Bettendorf; grandchildren Jeff (Meghan) Tisinger, Great Falls, Virginia; Meg Tisinger, Iowa City, Iowa; great-grandsons Callen and Logan Tisinger, Great Falls; step-grandchildren Katie Halfman, Bettendorf; Daniel (Amy) Halfman, Ankeny; step-great-grandchildren Zachary DeGeeter, Bettendorf: Brady, Harper and Elliana (Elli) Halfman, Ankeny; and numerous other family members and friends. In addition to her husband, Joan was preceded in death by her parents and sisters Mary Claire Gelsinger and Dorothy Malone.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. John’s United Methodist Church Music Department.
