Silvis, Illinois

George Wayne Priest, 76, of Silvis, Illinois, went home to be with his Lord on Friday, July 26, 2024, at Illini Restorative Care.

George was born to Lathel Lastwell and Jessie Justine Priest on October 16, 1947, in Odessa, Texas.

George attended Bible Baptist College in Springfield, MO., where he met and married Loretta Bartlett. He later married Jacqueline Swemline who preceded him in death on August 12, 2014. He retired from Nestle Purina after 40 years of service.

George was a member of Faith Baptist Church of Moline, IL. He was faithful in attendance until his health prevented it. Visitation is at 10:00 am and a memorial service will be held on August 3, 2024, at Faith Baptist Church, 520 12th St. Moline, IL. Pastor Matthew Fox will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Faith Baptist Church of Moline. Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, Moline, under the direction of Cremation Society of the Quad Cities.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Jacqueline, brothers Dalton Dean Priest and Lyndon Gene Priest, and infant sister Constance Lorraine Priest.

Survivors include sons Shawn Priest of Peoria, IL, and Thomas Priest of Moline, IL; daughters Constance Lorraine Priest of Silvis, IL, and Amandia (David) Daigneault of Mount Pleasant, SC; brother Sammy (Corrine) Priest of Greenville, NC; and best friend Barry (Fay) Shipp of Moline, IL. In addition, George had 10 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.
