George A. Fromer, 84, of East Moline, Illinois, passed away Thursday, June 25, 2026, at Charter Senior Living, Moline.

Private graveside services will take place at Rock Island National Cemetery, where the Vietnam Veterans of the Quad Cities will present military honors. Trimble Funeral Home & Crematory, Moline, is assisting the family.

George Arthur Fromer was born February 22, 1942, in Wilton Junction, Iowa, the son of Arthur and Frances (Leppla) Fromer. He was raised in Muscatine, Iowa, where he graduated from Muscatine High School before proudly serving his country in the United States Marine Corps. Following his military service, George worked for the Rock Island Arsenal, where he worked until his retirement.

George married Jimmie Sue Worst, and together they welcomed two daughters. Although the couple separated, they remained friends until her passing in 2009. For the past 32 years, he shared his life with his girlfriend, Sharon Leggett, with whom he resided until his passing.

He enjoyed fishing, camping, bird-watching, photography, riverboat gambling, and had a special love for his childhood dogs, Brownie and Striker, and grand-doggy, Roobee.

George is survived by his two daughters, Beth Ames of Muscatine, and Jenny Arwood of Antioch, Tennessee; six grandchildren, Arnold Berube, Andrea DeBehnke, Michelle Ames, Samantha Arwood, Caleb Arwood, and Katelyn Arwood; seven great-grandchildren; an uncle, Raymond Fromer; and his girlfriend, Sharon Leggett. He was preceded in death by his parents.
