Franklin J. Borst, 87, retired Professor of Marketing at St. Ambrose University, died Friday, June 26, 2026, at Bettendorf Health Care Center.
Graveside services are 2:00 p.m. Thursday, July 2, at Rock Island National Cemetery, where the Vietnam Veterans of the Quad Cities will present military honors. Those wishing to attend should meet in the parking lot at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline, between 1:30 and 2:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to Bettendorf Health Care Center in Frank’s memory.
Franklin John Borst was born August 10, 1938, in Dolgeville, New York. After graduating from high school, Frank earned a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education Teaching and Coaching from State University of New York Cortland, where he also played football and baseball. He then was proud to have served five years in the U.S. Marine Corps. After his service, he went on to earn his Master of Business Administration from East Carolina University.
His love for education and teaching lead him St. Ambrose University in 1991, and he spent over 20 years as Professor of Marketing at the University before retiring. He will be remembered fondly by the many students he impacted over the years.
Among survivors are Frank’s sister, Cynthia Foust of Boca Raton, Florida; and many good friends, including Dana and Ronald Myrick of Davenport.
