Fawney W. Chance

Fawney Wayne Chance. 74 years old, of Rock Island, Illinois, died Saturday, December 25, 2021, peacefully while sleeping at his home.

Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory under the direction of Trimble Funeral Home, Moline. There will be no services at this time. In lieu of flowers, Wayne’s family is requesting that donations are made to the International Myeloma Foundation or charity close to your heart

Wayne was born June 15, 1947, in Rock Island, to Fawney and Velma (Wilson) Chance. He married Yvonne Mueller on February 18, 1967, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Wayne is a US Navy veteran of the Vietnam War. For his service, he earned a National Defense Service Medal and Vietnam Service Medal. He served honorably on the USS Kearsarge. Following his service in the navy, Wayne spent several years working various jobs in the community until becoming a Rock Island fire fighter. He was a dedicated member of the Rock Island fire department for thirty years and retired as Battalion Chief. He was beloved for his do it himself attitude, taking great pride in his yard and John Deere tractor. Wayne’s most important pieces of wisdom often shared, “you can’t have all of your fun in one day”. He will forever be missed by family and friends.

Wayne is survived by his wife, Yvonne Christine Chance; his sister, Freida Jane Miller; his son and daughter-in-law, Sean Wayne and Hooki Chance; his daughter and son-in-law, Ginger Crista and Richard John Toth; and grandsons, Dominic Karpinski and Geddy Chance Toth.
