Fairel June Fish

June 14, 1931 — August 6, 2025

Davenport, Iowa

Fairel J. Fish, 94, of Davenport, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, at Davenport Lutheran Home.

Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, Moline, Illinois, under the direction of Cremation Society of the Quad Cities. Memorials may be made to Hope at the Brick House in Davenport, Iowa.

Fairel June Davis was born June 14, 1931, in Mercer, Missouri, the daughter of Eddie and Velma (Willford) Davis. Growing up, her family moved often, following her father’s railroad work. She later met the love of her life, Charles Eugene Fish, and the two began a lifelong journey together. They were married in 1950 in Washington, Iowa, eventually settling in Davenport to raise their family. Later, they made a home in Denton, Texas, and lived there for over 25 years. June and Charles shared 52 devoted years of marriage until his passing in October of 2002.

June worked as a typesetter at the Times-Democrat and other newspapers for over 30 years, taking pride in her craft. In her later years, she found joy in simple pleasures, such as crocheting, working puzzles, reading, and spending time with her family. She had a love for travel and especially cherished time spent in Sedona, Arizona. June was a very spiritual woman, always seeking to grow, learn, and share her wisdom (and amazing sense of humor) with her loved ones. She was generous, kind, and courageous, always there for a great conversation, to offer an ear, or guidance – June was an inspiration to all who were close to her, a pillar of hope and strength.

June is survived by her daughter, Bobbi (James) Frangipane; grandchildren, Angela June (John) Chapman, Jahson Frangipane, and Toni (Eric) Olson; great-grandchildren, Robby Chapman, Jack Chapman, Angelina Olson, and Isaac Olson; and a sister-in-law, Anita Rabenold. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles; son, Stephen Fish; parents, Eddie and Velma Davis; and siblings, Clyde and Hester Davis.

June’s family will remember her for her strong spirit, her warm smile and easy laughter, and the boundless love she gave to all, and will continue to be inspired by her. As her grandchildren lovingly have asked over the years, and will continue to ask, “What would Grandma June do?”

If she were here, June would say she has shed her earthly body and has now moved on to her next adventure. To all who were touched by her, she would say to live life and be present in this moment, to always choose gratitude, and to be open-minded and curious; after all, you won’t see the wonder around you if your eyes are closed.
