Eugene D. “Clipper” Schrupp, 82, of Moline, Illinois, died Friday, August 25, 2023, in his home.
A hospitality gathering with food and drink to celebrate Gene’s life with be 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Saturday, September 9, in CityView Celebrations on the lower level of Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline. Guests are invited to wear baseball or football attire. Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory under the direction of Trimble Funeral Home, Moline. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.
Eugene Daryl Schrupp was born February 14, 1941, in Norwood, Minnesota, to Henry and Emma (Gruenhagen) Schrupp. He married Joanne Lilienthal on July 13, 1963, in Glencoe, Minnesota. He was employed by Elliott Aviation for 20 years, retiring as Head Linesman in 1985. He then worked in the floral department at Hy-Vee for 15 years.
Gene was a huge Minnesota Viking and Twins fan, loved attending the air show, enjoyed polka music, and adored his grand-dog Kumar.
Gene is survived by his wife of 60 years, Joanne; three sons, Mark Schrupp of Bettendorf, Tom Schrupp of Davenport, and Dan Schrupp and his wife Jennifer Fitzpatrick Schrupp of Moline; five grandchildren, Kimberly Schrupp, Heather Funk, Cameron Schrupp, Owen Schrupp, and Tori Jo Grammer; four great-grandchildren; and siblings, Sandra Sprengler, Larry Schrupp, Susie Maddern, and Doug Schrupp. He was preceded in death by siblings, Orlin, Hillard, Frank, and Donover Schrupp and Shelby Balzum; and a daughter-in-law, Vicki Rock-Schrupp.
