Elmer E. Lawrence

Elmer E. Lawrence, 88, of Taylor Ridge, Illinois, died Tuesday, December 20, 2022, at UnityPoint Health – Trinity Rock Island.

Services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday, December 29, at Trimble Funeral Home, Coal Valley. Burial is in Coal Valley Cemetery. Visitation is 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, with a Masonic Service at 6:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First United Presbyterian Church, Moline.

Elmer Eugene Lawrence was born December 31, 1933, in Rock Island, the son of Albert and Leona (Roehrs) Lawrence, Sr. He served in the U.S. Army for two years and married Gloria Miller, with whom he had two children, Steve and Susan, before she passed away in 1992. He then married Naomi Komatar in 1996.

Elmer was a bricklayer for over 50 years and retired from John Deere. He belonged to First United Presbyterian Church, Moline, Eureka Lodge No. 69 AF&AM in Milan, and the American Legion. He enjoyed golfing and fishing. He loved being around other people and could talk to anyone about anything at all.

Elmer is survived by his wife, Naomi J.K. Lawrence; two children, Steve (Tammy) Lawrence of Sherrard, Illinois, and Susan Belanger of Rock Island; step-children, Mark Komatar of Port Byron, Illinois, and Diane Crow of Oswego, Illinois; five grandchildren, Nicole Zaiss, Stacie (Nathan) Dunsworth, John (Cassie) Tester, Elizabeth Tester, Michaela Belanger, and Rowan (Michael) Currie; great-grandchildren, Jamie Zaiss, Hudson Dunsworth, Luna Green Aura Tester, and Juliet Currie; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Dorothy Allen, Betty Wheeler, Janine Nichols, Albert R. Lawrence, Jr., and Robert W. Lawrence.
