Eleanor Marie Smith

Eleanor M. Smith, 89, of Rock Island, died, Tuesday, April 11, 2006 at St. Anthony?s Continuing Care Center in Rock Island.
Services will be held at a later date in Anamosa, Iowa. Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
The former Eleanor Marie English was born June 4, 1916 in Ryan, Iowa, daughter of Matthew and Eleanor (Nielsen) English. She had been married to Jack Smith. Eleanor was employed as a bookkeeper for St. Luke?s Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, retiring in 1976. She volunteered for many years at the former Lutheran Hospital in Moline, and was an avid reader.
Survivors include a son, Craig Smith of Davenport, and a grandson, Erik Smith of Iowa City, Iowa. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Evelyn Kinney, Elsie Delay, and Irene Richmond, and two brothers, William and Leo English.
