Edwin J. Lindsey Jr., 95, of Bettendorf, Iowa, passed away on September 26, 2026, at home surrounded by his loving family.

Visitation is 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 30, in the Horizon Room at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline, with a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. The family will greet friends at a funeral luncheon immediately following service at CityView Celebrations at Trimble Pointe. Edwin Jack Lindsey, Jr. was born on July 6, 1931, in Davenport, Iowa, the son of Edwin Sr. and Dorothy Lindsey. He graduated from Davenport Central High School and went on to attend the University of Iowa on a full athletic scholarship. A gifted and dedicated athlete, Ed lettered in baseball, football, and basketball and graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree.

His love of baseball took him to the Brooklyn Dodgers organization, where he played professionally until a serious injury, sustained while sliding into second base, brought his baseball career to an end. His competitive spirit, determination, and love of sports remained an important part of who he was throughout his life.

Ed proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, retiring with the rank of Captain. Following his military service, he enjoyed a successful career in the mobile home business before retiring in 1984.

Ed also gave generously of his time to the community. He served on the Quad City International Airport Board of Directors for 25 years and on the First National Bank Board of Directors for 30 years. He also enjoyed playing golf at Oakwood Country Club, where he was a member for more than 30 years.

Ed married Norma Rascher, and together they built a family and raised four children: Becky, Kim, Lisa, and Brett. He was a proud father and took great joy in watching his family grow through the years, including his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The values of hard work, dedication, loyalty, and perseverance that shaped Ed’s life became part of the legacy he leaves with his family.

In 2018, Ed married Rebecca (Kern) Imming, who brought great love and companionship to his later years. Together, they enjoyed spending winters in Florida, where they had a second home, and summers at their home in Iowa, where they made many happy memories.

Ed will be remembered for his remarkable life, his athletic accomplishments, his service to his country, and most of all, the love he had for his family.

He is survived by his wife, Rebecca; his children, Becky (Steve) Verhille, Kim (Brad) Gibson, Lisa (Rick) Moburg, and Brett (Donna) Lindsey; as well as several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Donna Schnoor.
