A proud decedent of the Fuller line of the Mayflower, Earlene was born February 27, 1936, in Oran, Missouri, the daughter of Earl and Grace (McCarty) McCallister. She graduated from Lexan High School, Oran, Missouri in 1954. She then attended Rubicon Business College in St Louis. Afterwards she was employed at International Shoe Company in St Louis.

She married her high school sweetheart, Eugene Fowler, on March 19, 1955, in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Upon Gene’s return from serving in the U.S. Army in Germany in 1956, the couple moved to Moline. They spent 62 years of happy marriage together until Gene’s passing on April 9, 2017.

Earlene worked for five years at United Township High School in East Moline before beginning a 30+ year career at John Deere Company. After retiring in Kansas City, Missouri, in 1992, she began her true calling as a domestic engineer. She took care of her family for many years and will be remembered as a terrific cook.

Earlene loved refinishing antiques, quilting, her doll collection, and decorating her home for holidays, family dinners, and special occasions. She was also an animal lover. Her many dogs over the years were very precious to her. She was a previous member of The Daughters of the Revolutionary War of Missouri.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Brian McCaulley of Tucson, Arizona; her son and daughter-in-law, Dave and Cynthia Fowler of Moline; five grandchildren, Grant (Carmen) McCaulley, Megan (Rowdy) Frederiksen, Zachary Fowler, Camron Fowler, and Shannon (fiancé Jake Sheldon) Fowler; five great-grandchildren whom she loved and enjoyed very much, Luke and Rachel McCaulley, and Cooper, Micha and Bennett Frederiksen;; and two sisters, Earnestine Harmon and Kay Fryer. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gene Fowler; two siblings, Evelyn Duncan and John McCallister; and brothers-in-law, Bob Harmon and Ray Fryer.
