Dwight Collison

Dwight Collison only son of Earl and Gladys (Dee) Dietrich Collison passed Sunday, 15 January 2023 in Seminole FL to be gathered with loved ones in heaven.

Services to celebrate Dwight’s life will be held Saturday, July 22, 2023, beginning with a graveside service at 10:30 a.m. at Moline Memorial Park. The celebration will continue with a open house luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at CityView Celebrations at Trimble Pointe (Lower Level), 701 12th Street, Moline.

He was born in Moline, IL on 28 August 1930. He graduated from Moline High School and Augustana College. He married Marjorie Fall in 1950 and later married Janis Hall Allen.

In 1952, he was called to active duty with the Illinois National Guard, 44th Division and played in the 44th Division Band during the Korean War.

He worked for Deere & Company 36 years as Cost Accountant, Factory Auditor, Assistant Plant Controller at the Harvester Works, Controller of OMP, and as Senior Project Analyst. After retirement he worked for the Rock Island County Visiting Nurses and Homemakers Association as their Financial Officer for five years.

In retirement, he continued his interest in music by playing euphonium in many Community bands including the Bettendorf Park Band, Geneseo Maple City Band, and the CASI New Horizon band. He started the Deutsche Polka band and a circus band. He made two European tours with the American Winds concert band and was also a member of Windjammers Unlimited, a national organization to preserve the playing of circus music with concerts in cities from Binghamton, NY to San Francisco plus annually in Sarasota FL.

In addition to music trips he and Janis enjoyed traveling to many Foreign Countries, theater trips, cruises, a Canadian Rockies train trip and the best trips visiting children and grands all over the U.S.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years Janis, children: Deborah (Kirt) Baxter, Lissa (Len) Srnka, Philip Collison and Beth (Jeffrey) Beckman. Step Children Mark (Robbin) Allen, Jefferey Allen, Christopher (Melody) Allen and Sylvia (Michael) Redmond. Well loved grandchildren, great grandchildren, and a nephew and niece.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Beverley Kleiber, and a grandson.
