Dorothy H. Smith

Dorothy H. Smith, 81, of Davenport, Iowa, passed on Monday, October 26, 2026, at Good Samaritan Society, Davenport.

Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, Moline, Illinois, under the direction of Cremation Society of the Quad Cities.

Dorothy Helen Franklin was born on May 25, 1945, in Trenton, Missouri, the daughter of Russell and Opal (Daniels) Franklin. She graduated from Davenport Central High School with the Class of 1964. That same year, she married Stanley Smith, and together they had two sons before later separating. Dorothy worked for Sears Manufacturing for many years.

She enjoyed donating to the casinos, especially the riverboats, and watching the races. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and grandchildren.

Dorothy is survived by her sons, Scott (Tracy) Smith and Randy (Pam Fogle-Smith) Smith both of Davenport, Iowa; bonus children, Carl Gibson, Scott Lane, and Lisa (Eric) Wear-Sanders; grandchildren, Kayla (Tim), Karley, Allison, and Alex (Julia); many great-grandchildren; siblings, Marge Phelps and Larry Franklin; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Russell and Opal Franklin; grandson, Mitchell; six brothers and two sisters.
