Donna R. Sweet

Donna R. Sweet, 70, of Davenport, Iowa, passed away Thursday, February 5, 2026, at home with her loving family by her side.

Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, Moline, Illinois, under the direction of Cremation Society of the Quad Cities.

The former Donna Rae DeLay was born August 9, 1955, in Davenport, the daughter of John “Ray” and Sadie (Collier) DeLay. She married the love of her life, Jay Sweet, on June 22, 1974, in Rock Island, Illinois.

Donna belonged to the Seventh-day Adventist Church. She graduated from Davenport West High School and went on to graduate from Scott Community College in Davenport.

Family was the main theme and focus of Donna’s life. She was a terrific wife and mother who always made sure her family was well fed and taken care of. Later in life, her grandchildren became her pride and joy and she loved every moment spent with them.

Donna is survived by her beloved husband, Jay; four children, Matthew (Megan) Sweet, Breanna (John) Schiffke, Andrew Sweet, and Anthony “Tony” Sweet, all of Davenport; her four grandchildren, Adrianne Sweet, Johnathan and Katelinn Schiffke, and Raena Sweet; and her sisters, Michelle (Dan) Banaszek, and Mai Nguyen. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Patrick and Les DeLay; and her sister, Connie Peterson.
