Donald E. Musak, 80, of Geneseo, Illinois, died Friday, April 18, 2025, at New Perspective, Silvis.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, May 5, in the Horizon Room at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline. Visitation will take place from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 4. Burial with full military honors by the Vietnam Veterans of the Quad Cities will follow at Rock Island National Cemetery. A luncheon will be held immediately after the services at CityView Celebrations at Trimble Pointe.
Donald Edward Musak was born on July 11, 1944, at Mercy Hospital in Chicago, Illinois, to Frank and Frances Musak. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Loyola University and proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He later retired as a Master Sergeant in the Army Reserve, where he excelled as an instructor.
Donald dedicated over 30 years of his professional life to administrative work at the Rock Island Arsenal, retiring in 2007. Prior to that, he served as a benefits supervisor at the International Harvester Combine and Tractor Plant.
On December 10, 1970, Donald married Susan Mary Anderson at St. Catherine of Siena in Oak Park, Illinois. Their marriage was a true partnership that spanned over five decades. Susan preceded him in death on March 16, 2025, and they are now reunited.
Donald was an avid gardener and active in his community as an Illinois Master Gardener for over 15 years. He was a proud member of the Mississippi Valley Hosta Society, the Geneseo Garden Club, and served as a past President of the Geneseo Rollie Bollie Club. He was a devoted member of St. Malachy’s Parish in Geneseo.
Donald is survived by his children, Carin Musak of Concord, CA, Chad Musak of Orlando, FL, and Marc Musak of Concord, CA; his beloved grandchildren, Brandon, Kylie, and Sophia Musak; and siblings; Gerry Musak, Bill Musak, Dorothy Fortier, Mike Musak, Mary Hounshell, and Ted Musak. He was preceded by his wife, parents, and brother; Jim Musak.
Donald will be remembered for his kind heart, quiet strength, deep faith, and unwavering dedication to family, country, and community.
