Donald L. Jaques, Jr., 74, of Moline, Illinois, died Thursday, June 23, 2022, at ProMedica Health Services, Davenport.
Hospitality visitation is 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 28, at CityView Celebrations at Trimble Pointe (Lower Level), 701 12th Street, Moline. Graveside services are 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 29, at Rock Island National Cemetery, where the Milan American Legion Post #569 will present military honors. Those wishing to attend should meet in the parking lot at Trimble Pointe at 10:45 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Milan American Legions Post #569, where he was a member.
Donald Lee Jaques, Jr. was born April 24, 1948, in Moline, the son of Donald Lee Sr. and Marion Joyce (Pearsall) Jaques. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, receiving a Purple Heart and Combat Infantryman Badge among other commendations.
He was a hair stylist for over 30 years, most notably at the Bear’s Den in Rock Island. He enjoyed playing darts and golfing. Music was also a big part of his life. He played guitar/drums and traveled with a band for several years.
Don is survived by four children, Paul Jaques of Florida, Keven Jaques of St. Joseph, Missouri, Sheena Marie Jaques of Davenport, and Zackery Jaques of Benton, Iowa; 11 grandchildren; a great-grandson; and siblings, Lona Jaques of Moline, Rick (Vickie) Comins of Waterloo, Iowa, and Jimmy (Marion) Comins of Silvis, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents.
