Don J. Powell, 46, of Sioux City, Iowa, formerly of Moline, Illinois, passed away Saturday, August 8, 2026.

Visitation is 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. Sunday, August 23, in the Horizon Room at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline. Services will conclude with a service and time of sharing at 2:30 p.m. Cremation will take place prior to services at Trimble Crematory.

Don Joseph Powell was born July 16, 1980, in Moline, the son of Donald and Julie (Anderson) Powell. He married the love of his life, Shilah Martin, on March 4, 2020, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Previously, he had been married to Tricia Engstrom, with whom he had his pride and joy, son, Austin.

Don graduated from Moline High School in 1998. Over the years, he lived in Cedar Rapids, Des Moines, and most recently Sioux City. He was an exceptionally hard-working man who held a wide variety of jobs throughout his life. No matter where he worked, however, Don brought passion, dedication, and pride to everything he did.

He worked at Quad Cities Sports Center in Davenport for several years after high school, eventually working his way up to manager. He also attended the police academy and served for a time as an auxiliary police officer with the Milan Police Department. Most recently, Don worked for the Warming Shelter in Sioux City, where he found purpose in helping others.

Don faced many challenges throughout his life, but when Don was truly being Don, he was someone who was easy to love. He had a strong relationship with God, a one-of-a-kind sense of humor, and a passion for working out. Those who knew him will remember his determination, his big personality, and the many stories and laughs he shared along the way.

Don is survived by his wife, Shilah Powell of Burlington, Iowa, and her son, Josiah; his son, Austin (fiancé Lauren) of Kansas City, Missouri; his father, Donald Powell; his siblings, Ryan Powell, Alan Powell, and Jenna (David) Wallace; several nieces and nephews; and many good friends including his lifelong friend, Mark Long. He was preceded in death by his mother, Julie Simpkins.
