A memorial service will be held at a later date to be announced. Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, Moline, Illinois, under the direction of Cremation Society of the Quad Cities. Memorials in honor of Dieter can be made to any preferred charity.
Dieter Artur Konitzer Jr. was born on September 16, 1956, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Dieter and Frieda (Nuemann) Konitzer Sr. Growing up in Middle Amana, Iowa, Dieter was a 1974 graduate of Amana High School. After having attended a technical school in Chicago, upon graduation he started his work career for time each at Cherry Burrell and NCR. This time was followed by a move to Walcott and employment at PCT Ebeam and Integration in Davenport, Iowa, where he devoted the next 35 years.
He had varied interests outside of his dedication to his work. Building and flying radio controlled planes had been a passion since early childhood. Helping family members with maintaining anything electrical or technical was something that he could be counted on. He was always looking for ways to be helpful. Outside of electrical and engineering type activities, he was also interested in horticulture. He had some successes in growing miniature roses, as well as helping out with his sister Rosemarie’s gardening activities.
Dieter is survived by his sister, Rosemarie Carroll of Middle Amana, IA; niece, Attalissa (Matthew) Ignoffo of South Elgin, IL; nephews, Joshua Carroll of San Francisco, CA and Tony (Sarah) Carlson of Winthrop, WA; and a niece, Andrea (Matthew) Stinley of Minneapolis, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dieter & Frieda Konitzer and a sister, Renate Carlson.
