Denny G. Black, 77, of Alpha, Illinois, died Saturday, November 2, 2024, at home surrounded by his family. 

Services are 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 16, in the Horizon Room at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline, with Rev. Santina Poor officiating. Visitation is 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, November 15. Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, Moline, with private burial in Alpha Cemetery, Alpha, Illinois. Memorials may be made to Hope United Church of Christ, Moline, or Friends of Lake Darling, Brighton, Iowa. 

Denny Guy Black was born July 15, 1947, in Sigourney, Iowa, the son of Orin Gale and Lola Beth (Morrow) Black. He graduated from Washington High School in Washington, Iowa, in 1966 and married high school sweetheart Laura Robinson on December 16, 1966, in Oskaloosa, Iowa. 

He worked for John Deere Seeding for 42 years, retiring in Industrial Relations in 2009. He looked forward to the annual fishing trips on Labor Day with his brothers and nephews and also trout-fishing trips with his work colleagues. He loved spending falls camping at Lake Darling. He and Laura enjoyed taking trips with their Corvette group and their adventures on Route 66. They also enjoyed wintering in Arizona for many years. He took pride in being an active member of Hope UCC, especially the annual Pork Chop Dinner. Golfing was a favorite activity, especially with the Valley View League. He valued his time at breakfast with the farmers. Denny was happiest spending time with family, laughing and telling stories with his brothers and having his kids and grandkids spend time at Skona Lake. 

Denny is survived by his wife, Laura; three children, Laurie (Lance) Aten of Galesburg, Illinois, Jeff (Angie) Black of Carol Stream, Illinois, and Eric (Lisa) Black of Naperville, Illinois; seven grandchildren, Connor and Grant Aten, Abbey, Jake and Sophie Black, and Ellie and Nora Hoel; brothers, Mike (Bev) Black of Washington, Iowa, Bill (Sherry) Black of Washington, Iowa, Larry Black of Iowa City, Iowa, Steve (Denise) Black of Webster, Iowa, Gary (Jackie) Black of Ankeny, Iowa, Tom (Deb) Black of Washington, Iowa and Brad (Bonnie) Black of Sigourney, Iowa; 18 nieces and nephews; 29 great-nieces and great-nephews; and two great-great-nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, step-parents, and a brother, Doug Black.
