Obituary

Dennis J. Heinrich, 73, of Bettendorf, Iowa, passed away on Friday, April 10, 2026.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, April 24, followed by a service at 11:00 a.m. at Christ Family Church, 4601 Utica Ridge Rd., Davenport, Iowa. Burial will follow at Rock Island National Cemetery, where the Vietnam Veterans of the Quad Cities will present military honors. Trimble Funeral Home & Crematory, Moline, is entrusted with arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation or Christ Family Church, reflecting causes that were meaningful to Dennis.

Dennis was born in Peoria, Illinois, on January 2, 1953. He graduated from Richwoods High School in Peoria, Illinois, and earned a Master of Science from Western Illinois University. He married Karla Kay Ingersoll on December 27, 1971.

Dennis proudly served in the United States Air Force and the Illinois Air National Guard, retiring as a Chief Master Sergeant. He was also a firefighter with the Davenport Fire Department in Davenport, Iowa, and a member of the Baggers International Fire Service Networking Group.

Denny spent much of his retirement traveling with Karla to their home in Florida. He was an avid reader and sports fan, loyally cheering on the Miami Dolphins, Chicago Cubs, and the Iowa Hawkeyes. But above all, he was the biggest fan of his precious grandchildren, Mia, who plays volleyball, and Sam, who plays football and baseball.

He is survived by his wife, Karla; his children, Noelle of Riverview, Florida, and Nate (Sarah) of Waukee, Iowa; his grandchildren, Mia (18) and Sam (16); his brothers, David (Anne-Renee) Heinrich of Fishers, Indiana, and Daryl Heinrich of Phoenix, Arizona; his sisters, Anji Newsum and Val Ewen, both of Queen Creek, Arizona; his sisters-in-law, Peggy (Michael) Church of Naples, Florida, and Susan Ahlemeyer of Prospect, Kentucky; his brother-in-law, Christopher (Mary Kate) Ingersoll of Salem, Massachusetts; his mother-in-law, Carolyn Ingersoll; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Don and Dorrie Heinrich.

The family would like to give special thanks to the Orange County, Florida Fire and Rescue, and the Baggers International Fire Service Networking Group for taking care of Denny in an incredibly honorable way.
