David Lawrence "Dave" Ridenour, age 74, of Minooka, Illinois, and Las Vegas, Nevada, formerly of Moline, Illinois, passed away surrounded by his loving family at his home on March 7, 2024.

Born on June 25, 1949, in Moline, Illinois, Dave was the beloved son of Larry and Marjorie (Karn) Ridenour. Dave was a proud graduate of Moline High School where he excelled in track and field.  After high school, Dave pursued higher education, earning a bachelor’s degree from Northeast Missouri State University and a master’s degree from Illinois State University.

Dave commenced his career in education as a public-school teacher, later embarking on a fulfilling 30-year career with Caterpillar Inc. There, he served as a Factory Floor Supervisor before retiring as a Global Purchasing Buyer. Dave took great pride in founding and developing the Educational Career Program for Aurora Caterpillar, a testament to his enduring dedication to education and mentorship.

The joy of Dave's life was his family. He cherished family vacations and was a steadfast presence in his children's lives, coaching little league baseball and football with enthusiasm. After his coaching days, he was a constant supporter at his daughter's gymnastics and track meets, as well as his son's basketball games.

Dave was a loving husband, a devoted father, loyal friend, and Dave's warmth and generosity was immense.

In retirement, Dave and Joanne loved traveling, but most of all, they loved spending time with their children and grandchildren.  The consummate storyteller, Dave engaged in lively conversations on various topics, and he never met a stranger, effortlessly connecting with everyone he crossed paths with.

Dave was predeceased by his parents, Larry and Marjorie Ridenour; his sister, Janet Konecky; brother in-law, John Konecky; father in-law, Wayne Dolan; mother-in-law, Charlene Dolan; brother in-law, David Dolan; brother in-law, Larry Dolan; and sister-in-law, Mary Dolan.

His remarkable legacy endures through his best friend and wife of 45 years, Joanne Kay (Dolan) Ridenour; his dedicated children, Jenna (Mitch) Dietze of Las Vegas and Greg (Brianna) Ridenour of Minooka; his cherished grandchildren, Joanna Dietze and Logan David Ridenour; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Paul and Evie Dolan, Tony and Colleen Montag, Jim and Judi Dolan, Peggy Dolan, Marsha Dolan, Terry and Sue Dolan, and Donna and Dan Atkinson; and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.
