David N. McGee, 77, of Davenport, Iowa, died Wednesday, June 29, 2022, at UnityPoint Health – Trinity Rock Island, Rock Island, Illinois.
Services are 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 2, in the Horizon Room at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline. Visitation is one hour prior to services. Cremation will take place following services at Trimble Crematory. Memorials may be made to the family.
David Neil McGee was born May 9, 1945, in Davenport, the son of Bernard and Aileen (Witt) McGee. He married Virginia A. “Ginny” Hansen in 1968, in Davenport. She died June 12, 2014. David graduated from Assumption High School and attended St. Ambrose in Davenport.
Dave worked for J.I. Case for several years before working for Oscar Meyer. He was a previous member of Milan Foursquare Church. He enjoyed watching woodworking shows and Bob Ross on TV. He also loved sports, coaching his sons’ little league baseball teams, and was an avid Chicago Bears, Iowa Hawkeyes and Atlanta Braves’ fan. Above all else, family was the most important thing to Dave, especially his beloved great-grandchildren.
Dave is survived by three children, Scott McGee of Tempe, Arizona, Amy (Jim) Heidecker of Rapid City, South Dakota, and Brian (Renae) McGee of Illinois City, Illinois; grandchildren, Ashley (Michael) Gealy, Brady (Jordan) McGee, Grace (Devon) Johnson, Mitch Heidecker, and Marissa Heidecker; great-grandchildren, Mia, Iris and Titus; siblings, Rick (Peg) McGee of Cottage Grove, Wisconsin, Jack (Susan) McGee of Stoughton, Wisconsin, and Sue (Ken) Rose of Davenport; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ginny; his parents; and brothers, Jerry, Glen and Dan McGee.
