David M. Scott, 55, of Riverdale, Iowa, passed away Sunday, March 22, 2026, at UnityPoint Health – Trinity Bettendorf.
A gathering to celebrate David’s life will be 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. Sunday, April 12, at the Izaak Walton League, 8440 N Harrison Street, Davenport, Iowa. Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, Moline, Illinois, under the direction of Cremation Society of the Quad Cities. Memorials may be made to the family.
David Michael Scott was born April 16, 1970, in Quincy, Illinois, the son of David Sr. and Becky (May) Scott. He went to Riverdale High School in Port Byron, Illinois, until transferring to United Township High School when his family moved to East Moline.
He married the love of his life, Amy Redden, on March 27, 2011, in East Moline. The two went on to build a life in Iowa with their boys.
David spent 18 years at SSAB in Muscatine, Iowa, before he changed careers to become an OTR truck driver. In 2025, the comfort of the steel mill beckoned him back. He was working at Gerdau Wilton Steel Mill as a crane operator and was a proud member of the Local #8581 Steelworkers Union.
He loved his Green Bay Packers, fishing, and spending time with his family and friends. His love and laughter were infections.
David is survived by his wife, Amy; his pride and joy, his sons, Clayton (Katherine) Bachman of Baltimore, Maryland, and Jacob and Dylan Scott, both of Riverdale; his step-mother, Vicki Scott; mother, Becky Malle; sister, Janet (Kevin) Kentz; brothers, Duane (Kelly) Scott, Jesse Arnold, David Warner, Jr.; his in-laws, Roy (Linda) Redden, Karen Bachman, Chad (Andrea) Redden, Arren (Eddie) Mayle, and Kevin (Crystal) Bachman; along with several nieces, nephews, and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his father, David Scott, Sr.; Sister, Christina; maternal and paternal grandparents; and his father-in-law, Robert Bachman.
David’s family would like to thank the nurses and doctors at UnityPoint Bettendorf for their care and compassion during this difficult time.
Condolences may be shared at CremationQC.com.
