Danny Eudean White, 85, of Bettendorf, IA, left this world at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House on March 15, 2023.
Visitation will be 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 1, at St. Johns United Methodist Church, 109 E 14th Street, Davenport, Iowa, immediately followed by funeral services at 11:00 a.m. Cremation will take place under the direction of Cremation Society of the Quad Cities.
Danny was born in Des Moines, IA on October 14, 1937 to Harold and Leta White. He grew up in Davenport and graduated from Davenport High School in 1955 and attended University of Iowa and Palmer College of Chiropractic. From there, Danny was a Sales Administrator for Alcoa, where he retired in 1991 after 34 years. Danny married the love of his life, Barbara A. Canaday on November 7, 1959 and they were happily married for 63 years. They have three children, Jeff (Michele) White of Bettendorf, IA, Scott (Mary Jo) White of Queen Creek, AZ, Stephanie (Ken) Huskey of St. Louis, MO. In addition to his children, those left to honor Danny’s memory are 11 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
Danny’s greatest joy was attending and supporting his kids and grandkids sporting and school events. Danny was an avid Iowa Hawkeyes and Chicago Cubs Fan. He played baseball for The University of Iowa, that led him to many years of coaching Little League and Pony League Baseball. He also spent years Umpiring Girls High School Softball. Aside from the sporting events side of him, he was a Spokesperson for United Way, President of Bettendorf Booster Club, President of Lions Club, and President of Plus 60 Club. Danny was a lifelong member of St. Johns United Methodist Church and throughout his life he was very active, including holding several leadership roles. Those who knew Danny well, could find him out on any golf course enjoying a round of golf.
Danny was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Leta, In-Laws, Wilber and Pauline Canaday, and a granddaughter, Nikki Ann White.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Johns United Methodist Church or Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House.
