Daniel Pearson Gardner, Jr., 34, of Moline, Illinois, passed away on Wednesday, September 20, 2023, at UnityPoint Health – Trinity Rock Island.
He will be laid to rest at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, September 29, 2023, at the Rock Island National Cemetery. Those wishing to pay their respects are invited to meet in the parking lot at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline, at 10:15 a.m. Arrangements have been entrusted to Trimble Funeral Home, Moline. The family requests that memorials be made to any homeless shelter in Danny's memory.
Born in San Antonio, Texas, on September 11, 1989, Daniel Pearson Gardner, Jr. was the beloved son of Daniel Gardner Sr. and Joyce Hinojosa Melillo. He served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps, with deployments to Guantanamo Bay, Bahrain, and Afghanistan. Danny dedicated himself to the environmental industry and passionately championed various causes throughout his life.
Danny's love for life was evident in his daily walks, where he found solace and inspiration. He had a deep appreciation for music and actively supported local bands for several years. Above all else, his heart was filled with love for his friends and family. His selflessness knew no bounds, as he generously extended his hand to the homeless and those in need.
Daniel is survived by his father, Daniel (Rexanna) Gardner, Sr.; his mother, Joyce Melillo; his cherished siblings, Sgt. Richard L. Gardner, Lisa Arellano, Erica (Perry) Hallmark, Jennifer (Omar) Aceviz, Josephina (Juan) Ochoa, and Jose Torres, along with their families. He is also survived by his loving grandmother, Lois Merrill.
