Obituary

Damian C. “Loc” Govan, 58, of Davenport, Iowa, passed away Friday, May 29, 2026, at home.

Services will be held in Tennessee, with burial at New Park Cemetery in Memphis. Trimble Funeral Home, Moline, assisted the family locally. Memorials may be made to the family.

Damian Carl Govan was born February 16, 1968, in Memphis, Tennessee, the son of David and Dorothy Jean (Watkins) Govan. He shared the past 30 years with the love of his life, Kristie Dugan. Prior to that, he was with Patricia Jones, with whom he raised four children and three stepchildren. Though they separated, they remained lifelong friends.

Music was Damian’s passion. A true engineer of sound, he loved writing lyrics, playing the drums, rapping, and listening to all types of music. He enjoyed playing and watching basketball. He was a Spurs fan and admired Victor Wembanyama and Michael Jordan. He was also a football fan, cheering for Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs. Damian enjoyed playing video games, watching television and movies—especially Scarface— spending time fishing and cooking, and being with his family. He will be remembered for his vibrant personality, his appreciation for jewelry, and his determination to always look and smell his best.

Damian lived life in full color, true to his favorite shades of red and black. To know him was to know a man who was never without his Locs—a pair always perfectly placed on his face or held ready in his hand.

Damian is survived by his wife, Kristie Dugan; his children, Michael (Kourtney) Hollingshed of Burlington, Iowa, Juanita (Tracy Powell) Hollingshed of Davenport, Damian Hollingshed of Davenport, Patricia “Marie” (Chris Snyder) Govan of Davenport, and Precious Govan of Davenport; step-children, Gloria (Roseanda) DeLoach of Davenport, Kimberly Hollingshed of Davenport, and Haley Hollingshed of Davenport; sisters, Tamika (Johnny) Govan-Gatewood of Memphis, Kesha (Andre’) Govan-Woods of Memphis, Benita Jones of Arizona, and Lenora Govan of Davenport; brother, Jeremy Govan of Davenport; step-sister, Melissa Powell; mother-in-law, Beverly (Harvey Dittmen) Dugan; Damian’s sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Becky (Corey) Lopez, Tonia (Jim) Crowley, and Robert (Stephanie) Dugan, all of Davenport; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, grandchildren, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Kelvin “Jumbo” Maurice Govan; step-sister, Becki Jones; and step-brother, Allen Powell.
