Born on February 26, 1954, in Camden, South Carolina, Johnny was the son of Dallas and Elizabeth Mahoney. He graduated from Camden High School, where he played center for the football team—a role that reflected his strength and dedication both on and off the field.
At the age of 18, Johnny answered the call to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Air Force. His military career took him across the globe, and he especially cherished his time stationed in Korea. The opportunity to travel and experience different cultures was one of the great joys of his life during his years of service.
After retiring from the Air Force, Johnny continued to pursue his interests with quiet passion. Woodworking became a favorite pastime—an outlet for his creativity and craftsmanship. Whether building something practical or simply enjoying the process of working with his hands, he found satisfaction in shaping wood into lasting pieces.
Johnny is survived by his sister Gaye Peebles of Yakima, Washington and her children, Elizabeth Anne McManus of Yakima and Richard Alan Peebles of Lynnfield, MA and great nephew Dylan Mark Baker of Yakima. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Cynthia Mahoney.
May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him and honor to the life he lived in service and quiet devotion.
